Newcastle United Foundation is delighted to announce Newcastle United Women's Emma Kelly as a Player Ambassador.

Kelly joins the charitable arm of Newcastle United as a passionate advocate for the Foundation's work.

In her first official appearance as a Player Ambassador, Kelly met the next generation of female footballers kicking off their careers through Newcastle United Foundation's Emerging Talent Centre.

Kelly joins Dan Burn as an official Player Ambassador for Newcastle United Foundation with the pair committed to championing the Foundation and playing a key role in promoting the work of the charity to inspire others to get involved or fundraise for the organisation.

Kelly said: "I've visited a few sessions to see the work that all the staff and all the participants are putting in and it's inspirational so it's a huge honour to become an ambassador for Newcastle United Foundation.

"Being from the North East and growing up in the region, I do think that Newcastle is the most tight-knit community I could have ever imagined coming into.

"Being part of the football club here and seeing what it means to the fans and how together and close everyone is and how proud everyone is to be part of Newcastle is inspiring. I love being part of it so that adds to the reasons why I'm so happy to become an ambassador."

As Player Ambassador, Kelly spent time answering questions from participants at Newcastle United Foundation's Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) sharing her journey through football, insight into her training and matchday routine and advice for young players looking forward to a future in professional football.

The midfielder inspired participants sharing how her own journey began at an ETC before moving through to join an academy and signing for Middlesbrough Women.

She added: "It's scary and exciting at the same time because I'm wondering where my time has gone because it feels like yesterday I was where these girls are.

"Any experiences or stories I can share with the next generation to come through is all that I would have wanted when I was their age so I'm excited to see what we can build together."

In December, Kelly joined the Foundation in supporting the launch of the Together Through Sport campaign with ambitions to provide more opportunities for young people to enjoy and engage in physical activity, giving children the best start in life, regardless of background.
